TDLR Launches New Inspection System:

What Texas Beauty Professionals Need to Know

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has launched a new inspection system for its Field Inspections Division. The system took effect immediately on September 9, 2026, and applies to several TDLR-regulated industries, including barbering and cosmetology.

For Texas salon owners, barbershop owners, school administrators, and other licensed establishment operators, the most important change is the email address that TDLR will use for inspection-related communications.

Watch for Emails From Field2Base

Inspection notifications and correspondence generated through the new system will come from:

noreply@field2base.com

Although this email address does not end in “tdlr.texas.gov,” TDLR has confirmed that messages sent from this address are official communications from its Field Inspections Division.

These emails may include:

  • Inspection notifications
  • Inspection-related correspondence
  • Follow-up information
  • Other important communications from TDLR field inspectors

Because the sender may be unfamiliar, messages could be filtered into a spam or junk folder.

What Salon and Barbershop Owners Should Do

TDLR recommends adding noreply@field2base.com to your approved-sender or safe-sender list.

Texas barbering and cosmetology establishment owners should also take the following steps:

  1. Check your spam or junk folder regularly. Look for messages from noreply@field2base.com, especially if your establishment is expecting an inspection or follow-up communication.
  2. Add the address to your contacts. Saving the email address may help prevent future messages from being marked as spam.
  3. Notify managers and administrative staff. Anyone responsible for monitoring your establishment’s email should know that Field2Base messages may contain official TDLR information.
  4. Confirm that TDLR has your current contact information. An outdated email address could cause you to miss an important inspection notice.
  5. Keep inspection records organized. Save relevant emails, inspection reports, correction notices, and supporting documentation where authorized staff can find them.

Does This Change TDLR Inspection Requirements?

TDLR’s announcement focuses on the introduction of its new communication system and the new sender address. It does not announce changes to barbering and cosmetology sanitation standards or establishment inspection requirements.

Licensed establishments should continue following all applicable TDLR laws and rules. This includes maintaining sanitary work areas, properly cleaning and disinfecting tools, storing supplies correctly, displaying required licenses, and keeping the establishment ready for inspection.

Be Alert, but Continue Practicing Email Safety

The new sending address may initially look unusual because it uses the Field2Base domain instead of TDLR’s primary domain. However, TDLR specifically states that emails from noreply@field2base.com are official Field Inspections Division communications.

You should still use ordinary email-safety precautions:

  • Confirm that the sender’s address is spelled correctly.
  • Be cautious with unexpected attachments or requests for sensitive information.
  • Do not send passwords or payment information by email.
  • Contact TDLR directly if a message appears suspicious.

Questions about the new system can be sent to the TDLR Field Inspections Team at Inspectionrequest@tdlr.texas.gov.

Prepare Before an Inspection Notice Arrives

The safest approach is to keep your salon, barbershop, specialty salon, or other licensed establishment inspection-ready throughout the year. Use our Texas Salon Sanitation Checklist to review your work areas, tools, storage, and sanitation procedures. Regular sanitation checks and organized records can help prevent last-minute stress and reduce the chance of avoidable violations
